Our goal is to create unforgettable experiences for children and their families through our wish granting process. But we can’t do it alone. Every single donation helps to ensure that every eligible child’s one true wish comes true.

By donating to Make-A-Wish® you help transform lives. You give children with critical illnesses a reason to hope for a brighter future. And most of all, you help make their magical wishes come true.

There are many ways to donate and support Make-A-Wish. These gift giving options can suit every donor. See below for more information.

One-Time Gift

Make-A-Wish offers various one-time gift options suited for every donor.

Ways to give a one-time gift are:

  • Donate online or mail in your completed donation form (our chapter's mailing address is on page two of the form)
  • Donate to a specific campaign
  • Make a tribute gift in honour or in memory of a loved one

A tax receipt will be issued for all gifts $20 and over.

Monthly Gift

By giving to Make-A-Wish as a monthly donor, you will help reduce administrative costs, and enable us to dedicate more of your monies directly to our wish granting mission. And, as a monthly donor, you’ll receive one tax receipt per year for your total, annual contribution.

Tribute Gift

There’s nothing more meaningful and heartfelt than making a tribute gift in honour or in memory of someone. A tribute gift allows you to show a loved one how much you care, while helping to grant magical wishes. A tribute gift can be made online or through our mail-in donation form.

To acknowledge your tribute gift, you can send a chosen recipient an e-card (online donation only) or a printed, mailed card, with your custom message enclosed.

Legacy Gift

When you leave a personal legacy to Make-A-Wish, you’re making a powerful statement, while ensuring that future generations of wish children and their families are able to have magical wish granting experiences. A will ensures that heirs, assets and causes that are important to you are honoured and protected.

There are tax benefits with this type of giving. It is recommended that you discuss legacy gift intentions with your financial and legal advisors, as well as with your family. If you choose to leave a legacy to our chapter, your professional advisor will need to know our legal name and charitable registration number. Our legal name is Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southwestern Ontario and our charitable registration number is 82712 1302 RR0001.

We welcome the opportunity to recognize and connect with our legacy gift donors, and invite you to consider informing us of your plans.

Typical bequest language may be:

  • “I give the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southwestern Ontario the sum of $__________to be used or disposed of as its Board of Directors deems appropriate in its sole discretion.”
  • “I give the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southwestern Ontario  ___% of the residue of my estate to be used for_____.”

In-Kind Donations

Make-A-Wish® Southwestern Ontario consistently strives to be a leader in obtaining donations of goods and services for each wish that we grant. This is vitally important because it allows us to leverage each and every dollar even further. From transportation services to event tickets to professional services such as advertising and marketing, we are grateful to the community for this tremendous support. Here are some ways you can help:

Auction Items

Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario holds fundraising events that include silent auctions. If you would like to donate a new or collectible item for one of our auctions, please contact Erin Bhatia, Manager of Special Events & Creative Design, at erin.bhatia@makeawish.ca or 519.471.4900 ext. 6223.

Wish Enhancement Gifts

Each time our wish-granting volunteers visit our wish children and their families, they bring small "wish enhancement" gifts for the wish child and their siblings. These gifts help introduce the wish granter to the family while preparations for his/her wish are underway. Currently, our greatest need is "wish enhancement" gifts for teenagers. However, we have an ongoing need for new and age-appropriate "wish enhancement" gifts for children between the ages of three and 17.

For a copy of our current "wish list" or to organize a toy drive in your workplace, please contact Misha Johnston and Brittany Kinchen, Wish Coordinators, at 519.471.4900 ext. 6228.

Travel Rewards

Help wishes come true by redeeming travel reward points to purchase items for Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario, such as gifts for our wish children or prizes for fundraising events.

Shoppers Optimum Points

Consider donating your Shoppers Optimum Points to Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario, to help us obtain necessary items for wish granting and fundraising events. To learn more, please click here.
