Wish It Forward

2016-07

Do you know a child who is battling a life-threatening medical condition? They may be eligible for a wish.

Anyone can refer a child to Make-A-Wish. It takes just a few minutes, and it can have a huge impact on a child who is going through a difficult time. A referral is the first step in a child’s wish. A wish can provide a magical and empowering interlude in a terrible and frightening time. Children are energized by a wish … by imagining it, describing it, planning and anticipating it. Families tell us that a wish can encourage a child to see a future to fight for and then to fight on, often against tremendous odds, when courage and hope are flagging. Here's how you can help make a child's wish come true:

1. If you are the child's parent/guardian, a medical professional treating the child (this can include nurses, social workers, child life specialists, pediatricians, therapists, etc.) or are a child who may be eligible, please visit our Refer A Child page to complete a referral form.

2. If you are not the child's parent/guardian, medical professional, or the child who may be eligible, please pass along our information to the family and encourage them to visit and fill out the Refer A Child form, or to contact us directly at 519-471-4900 ext 6227 or swontariochapter@makeawish.ca.

For more information about wish eligibility and how we protect the privacy of our wish families, please visit Refer A Child.

Thanks to caring individuals like you, we are privileged to spread hope, strength and joy to so many children across Southwestern Ontario! We are committed to the vision of granting the wish of every eligible child. To do so, we cannot solicit for wishes, so we rely on people like you to WISH IT FORWARD and help us reach every eligible child to grant them a wish that changes lives, forever.
